NEWS: Happy NAIDOC Week!
Koorie Youth Council
After what has been an incredibly challenging year for our community, we enter NAIDOC week remembering what this week means to us. From a day of mourning and protest, we have adapted it to a week of celebrating the strength, courage and achievements of our families, communities and culture.
This year’s theme ‘Always was, always will be’ is a theme that we have always carried with us, that we come from the oldest living culture in the world, and that we embody the wisdom, strength and purpose of generations of our Ancestors. This week is a week of celebration, to be proud of who we are and our continuous connection to community, country and culture.
Although this NAIDOC week looks a lot different, as Melbourne and regional Victoria open up, we are able to celebrate together both in person and online because of the deadly work of our community in keeping our mob safe and healthy.
Check out the deadly online events happening across Victoria and remember to connect with each other and do what keeps you strong and healthy.
